Wow, we are very quickly approaching 7 pm on January 27th (that ticker on convergechurch.org is a constant reminder)! I have to tell you, I’m definitely starting to get a little freaked out. There is so much going on and so much it left to do that it is quite impossible to do it on my own. Thankfully, God is helping out through the power of His Holy Spirit to accomplish everything that has been accomplished so far. Since my last post (5 days ago) we have found ourselves a singer…thank you James McLean! Also, we have gotten ourselves a sound-dude for the time being. Both are huge blessings. James is Nate Smith’s roommate and a great guy and has a ridiculously great voice…I am very stoked to have him aboard. All of this being accomplished through God’s power and yet I am still really freaking.
I was telling the guys at bible study today that it seems that nearly every morning since I have really launched full-bore into putting together the praise team that I have awoken with the biggest urge to quit and just return to a lazy life of reading and stagnating…and not living on mission. It’s a hard thing for my mind to wrap around…everything in my life must be dedicated to the mission of Jesus Christ. All of my interaction, all of my exercise, how I treat my wife, the time I allot to scripture study, school study, music, etc. has to be oriented to the gospel and making disciples. To be honest, if it were up to my flesh I’d simply cop-out and return to life as normal…worry about my education and how best to fit around TV watching in between my readings from Alvin Plantinga. Thankfully I know that God has given me His Holy Spirit for the strength to do everything that He has tasked me to do…and so far it’s coming along.
It’s amazing to me that the enemy creeps in so quickly, yet deceptively, the closer we get to the launch of the church and the more my heart turns towards living a missional lifestyle. I suppose that means that we’re on to something…and that’s pretty exciting.
We’re 3 weekends away…
